A view of the city glowing in the evening from a balcony or a lake view from a house in the countryside provides an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. However, there are times when you need a screen to provide shade from the hot afternoon sun, block the wind, or provide privacy. The bamboo shade is lightweight and rolls up when not needed. It quickly attaches to the balcony of the apartment.
Things that you need
Wood strips, 1×1 and 6 feet long
6 foot wide bamboo shade
masonry drill bit 3/16 inch diameter
Wood Drill Bit 1/4 Inch Diameter
1/4″ concrete/masonry screws 2-1/2″ minimum length
Staple a 1×1 strip of wood on top of a bamboo shade every 6 inches. This provides additional stability when the wind blows. Be careful not to interfere with the shade mechanism that can lower or raise the shade.
Drill three holes 2 feet apart in a straight line in the balcony floor. Use a masonry 3/16 inch drill bit. The hole should be 1 inch behind the edge of the balcony. The diameter must be the same as the concrete screw. The length of the hole should be slightly larger than 1-1/2 inches.
Mark a wooden strip every two feet. The markings should be in line with the holes drilled in the balcony. Drill a hole in the mark with a 1/4″ drill bit.
Grab the wooden strips with the bamboo shades attached to the best balcony privacy options floor.
Align the holes.
Thread the concrete screws through the wood into the concrete. Concrete screws have a finish that helps hold the concrete in place.
Lower the bamboo shade. Tie the shade floor to the balcony railing with twine every 12 inches. This prevents fluttering in the wind. If you use natural-colored threads, it will not stand out.
To make the screen more permanent, frame it out of a piece of wood and attach the frame to the bottom of the balcony ceiling above and the top of the balcony railing.
tip If you cannot find 1/4″ masonry screws, use another size. Make sure the mason drill is slightly smaller than the size of the screw. Bamboo shades are available in a variety of sizes. Use the right size for your balcony. Wear goggles when drilling through wood or concrete.
